Deanna's Story
Life
As of late 2005, I've been living in the bay area of California for over three years. It's great. I live in a huge house, with five other diverse and amazing people. I manage a small school in Berkeley and I'm seriously considering going back to school to study Acupuncture in the fall of 2006 (gotta get those anatomy prereqs done). I have been studying asian bodywork for over a year, and I specialize in Shiatsu (Japanese massage) and Tui Na (the style of work they use in hospitols in china). I am a certified Acupressurist, and within a couple of years I should have a national certification. The eastern perspective on the body and the practice of medicine fascinates me, and I'm hoping to be in practice by this spring.
I'm still in love with snowboarding, but of course I can't ride as much since leaving Colorado. I knit, I cook, and practice tai chi. Music to me is like "the bible to christians". I dabble with spinning records, dance classes, and drums. I love to sing and secretly want to sing with a band. This summer I ended a relationship with a musician because he's on tour for the next five months, it's for the better, but once again, I'm single.
Life is good. There's so many interesting people, and experiences to be had. My new year's resolution for 2006 is to travel more again. I'm thinking Thailand or South America or even Europe to see friends. We'll see what I can make happen.
School
In 2000 I recieved a Bachelors degree from the University of Minnesota in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering with an environmental emphasis.
Since the summer of 2004 I have been studying Acupressure and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Berkeley, California. Currently I am the manager at the Acupressure Institute, but I am hoping to be moving forward with Asian Style bodywork in the spring. I am seriously considering Acupuncture school starting fall 2006.
