Deb's Story

UPDATE 02-25-09 Just a quick addition to the information below to keep everyone up to speed. It's all pretty much the same except last summer, due to a mid-life crisis or early onset dementia, Mike and I decided to revisit our youth. We both purchased motorcycles. Well, actually Aprilia scooters. His is a Scarabeo 500 and mine a Mojito 150. Just call me Mojito Motorcycle Mama. We used to ride his Honda B.C. (before children) but I had never actually driven one myself. My first time driving was the three hour trip home from the dealer in Maryland. Scary but exhilarating. In other late 2008 news, I further took leave of my senses by going on a kayak tour. I don't swim at all . . . thanks to Sam Marsico and Kling's Motel (anyone remember that place?) Since the kayak tour went well (meaning I didn't drown) I went ocean kayaking with Mike in the Atlantic Ocean. Don't know if I'll try it again. All that adrenaline isn't good for an old lady. I've posted some pictures for your amusement. UPDATED 06-19-08 (see below for original bio) Just a quick addition to bring you all up to speed on what's been going on since my original posting. I am celebrating the publishing of a book. It is entitled "The Set of the Sail" and is written under the pseudonym of Andie Debbins. In January, I started working again ~ part-time. I work for Verizon in downtown Pittsburgh. I'm riding the bus in which has been a real education for this country bumpkin. I try to receive each person as a gift from the Lord but, I must say, God has quite an imagination! Fodder for my next book, eh? Other than that, my family is well, all older and, hopefully, a little wiser. I am also involved with The Animal Friends of Westmoreland. It is a no kill animal sh...Expand for more
elter in Youngwood. I recently created a website for them (animalfriendswestmoreland.org ). Stop by the site and look around. Right now Mike and I are also foster parenting a dog which was saved from death row at a kill shelter. "Beamer" is with us until he is adopted. Which makes life interesting since we still have Lincoln, our 11 year old English Springer Spaniel, four cats and a grand-dog, Huck, who visits frequently. I would love to hear from you guys - even if we weren't close in school. Drop me a line. ORIGINAL BIO: This year (2006) I celebrated my 34th wedding anniversary. I have two children, Geoffrey (32) and Michaele (28), who are also graduates of Norwin. Johannes Poeppinghaus is our "son" whom we hosted as a foreign exchange student. He too graduated from Norwin. After quitting my career as a Payroll Administrator/Human Resources Manager, I took a couple of years off and then worked part-time as secretary for a church. Since I broke my shoulder a few months ago, I am "retired" ~ temporarily. That leaves me plenty of time to get in trouble elsewhere. I love to travel. My favorite trips have been to Europe (France, Germany, Austria & Switzerland) and a three week train trip from Greensburg to Seattle, up into Alberta Canada and then across Canada to Toronto and home. Every year we rent an oceanfront home in Duck NC for a family get-together. Additionally, I've written a book which is copyrighted with the Library of Congress but has yet to be published. Our family has five cats and "Lincoln" ~ our English Springer Spaniel and my special companion. Well, if I haven't bored you to death, drop me a line and let me know what's up in your world. I'd love to hear about your life journey.
