Deb's Story
After high school, I didn't have the opportunity to attend college, so I chose to get married. I have a wonderful son, who is now turning 20. I worked various part-time jobs and cared for children of a few working friends, along with my son and my step-children (had 7 kids at one time...Wow, but I loved them all!!). I entered college at the age of 30. First the associates, which enabled me to work as an RN, then, in 2007, I completed my Bachelor's degree. I will enter my Master's program at NKU in 2009.

lege at 30...I tried very hard after high school, but didn't have the financial and social support that would be needed, so I could not do it. Looking back, I just could not find a way to make it happen. Looking back, I probably got more out of it at the later age.
My nursing experience has been wonderful. I am an oncology nurse. The majority of my experience has been with leukemia and lymphoma patients undergoing bone marrow transplant. I now work with hospice patients.
I love my work. Strange, isn't it. It is a calling.
