Debbie's Story
Life
Hi All, hope everyone is enjoying their lives post high school. After multiple degrees in two different colleges, I worked for quite awhile at AMAX as a Senior accountant while still living in Mahopac. Then I moved to Hopewell Junction and married Ed Omuleski from Mahopac in 1987 (first marriage (1979) lasted only 1 1/2 years to Jim Peragine from our class) and we have three children, Chris (19), Kaitlyn (17) and Tara (14). We are now living in LaGrange and Ed is a Sargeant with the state police and I'm teaching Math in the Arlington School District. We live in a very expanded cape cod on a quiet culdesac and have just installed a beautiful inground pool this past summer. Chris is attending DCC for communications and media arts and working for the Town Highway Department, Kaitlyn works for our local Hannafords and has decided to attend DCC for a year or two before transferring to another college. She is majoring in economicis and mathematics. Tara is only in 8th grade, taking 9th grade classes in Math and Earth Science. Tara is our little all star cheerleader and has been on ESPN dozens of times. She will join the high school cheer team this summer. She keeps us traveling around the U.S. with her team. We haven't kept in touch with too many people from High School. Many of our friends have moved away so we keep in touch either by e-mail or holiday times. Many people from Mahopac that we went to school with now live up here in our neck of the woods, and it is so funny to see familiar faces and catching up with old times. Ed and I really don't do too much since our children keep us very busy with all their activities. We make it a point to vacation every year down in the Jersey Shore as we did as kids. family vacation down at the Jersey Shore! My parents are still alive and live down in Florida. My sister and her family still live in Mahopac, my brother and his family live in North Carolina. Sadly, Ed's parents have passed away. I think for now I've gotten everyone up to date on our lives. Please e-mail me to say hi and let us know how everyone is doing!
School
I had so many crushes when I was in High School. I think my biggest crush was a very good friend of mine who was dating a friend of mine. We were best friends and then all of a sudden on a trip home for the weekend from college, we went to a football game together and that was that. We were together for two years until I messed it up in my second year of college. I hated my senior year in high school because he was away and I wanted to be with him.
The teacher that inspired me most was probably Mr. Rossi and Mrs. Darling. They were my favorite teachers and really helped me achieve goals in college.
If I had to do it all over again the only thing I would change is going to college for education right off the bat. It was what I wanted to do all along but never did.
I think the funniest things I remember from high school was the class of 1974 putting a volkswagen on the roof of the high school, a streaker (do you remember who that was), Officer Quackenbush and so many more.
College
College my first year was tough because of an alcoholic, sexed crazed roommate and wanting to be in Cortland with my boyfriend. I remember driving thru blizzards to go to Cortland for the weekend, no fear. you would never get me driving through those storms ever again. All it ever did in Canton was snow, snow and more snow. I missed the two hour delays and the "no school" days. I was pretty laid back my first year in college and the grades were good.
