Debbie's Story
Where do I begin? I'm not much of a 'story teller', so let's try a Q and A type format.
High schools attended: 9th grade Arlington Baptist School, 10th grade Fallston High School, 11th grade Glen Burnie High School. (I graduated from GBHS in 1983. Yes, that's a year early. My parents idea. I identify myself with the class of 1984 because that's the class that I knew.)
College: UMBC. I left after 2 years due to financial difficulties.
Married/single: I have been married for about 25 years to a wonderful man I met in Maine after leaving UMBC.
Children: No
Pets: We currently have a 9 y.o. greyhound named Stanley. He's a retired, rescued race dog. Stanley is our third greyhound. I also adore dwarf rabbits. I've had 3 of them. How's that for irony? Greyhounds and rabbits. We've always lived in a 2 story house, until now, the rabbits were upstairs and the dogs were downstairs. Since greyhounds don't really like stairs we never had a problem. We live in a ranch style house now so I'm waiting before I get another rabbit or 2.
Job: self employed. We have a maintenance/management company.
Favorites: color- dark shades of pink- fucshia, magenta, berry
food- pizza
music- anything other than opera, rap or this new country music (it's so depressing-- I lost my job, I lost my wife, ...Expand for more
I lost my dog and my kids hate me...my hubby says if you play the records backwards..you get all your stuff back.)
movies- Avatar, Tomb Raider, The Pink Panther with Steve Martin and Red (Retired Extremely Dangerous)
Hobbies: I'm currently into gnomes. It started with the Travelocity Roaming Gnome. Then I bought a few gnomes and put them in different places in my yard. Then I started to think my gnomes deserved a better life than just standing around. I have this planter between the garage and the workshop. One year I tried planting flowers. I wasn't impressed. The next year I let the weeds grow wild. So this year I decided to create Gnometowne. I dug out a few inches of dirt and weeds, put down landscapers plastic (to keep the weeds at bay), and added red mulch. I put the gnomes throughout the planter and I'm creating 'scenes' for them. For example: I have a gnome named Zachary and he's a lumberjack. So- in his 'scene'/display...whatever you want to call it...I set up a lumber yard. I have tree branches for tree length wood, dowels to represent tree lengths after the bark has been stripped, I have smaller dowels that I painted brown stacked up to look like cord wood and I have 3 log cabins. It's a work in progress.
I guess that'll just have to do for now. If you want to know any more just ask.
