Deborah's Story
Married Doug Wiggins June 3, 1972. Bought our 1st farm in Willow Creek in spring of 1973. Raised Dairy cows, Reg. Shorthorns, sheep, pigs, dogs cats and horses. in the next 3 years we rented 2 other connecting places and enlarged our herds. Our 1st child was born February 23, 1975. We sold this property in April 1977, rented a house in Willow creek for a while and had our second child on December 1, 1977. We then bought a single wide trailer and set it up on Doug's mom and dads property. for the next few years I worked as a DHIA tester, and the Nursing home until our third child was born on June 27,1980. During this time we rented a few places looking for just what Doug wanted. In 1980 Doug started working full time for the Becker ranch and I remained in our trailer with the kids and started working at Quisenberry's for the next 5 years. In 1985 we moved to Adel, Oregon where Doug worked for the largest ranch in Oregon. September of that year we moved back to Willow Creek, the kids went to school there and then we moved to Paulina, Oregon for the next 5 years. We worked on 3 different ranches there. When I ...Expand for more
wasn't working on the ranches I was driving school bus on the longest route in Oregon, and was the Janitor for the school. I also filled in for the local store/post office/ bar when the owner went to Bend for supplies, or she needed extra help. From there we moved to Dubois, Idaho where Doug managed a feedlot and the outside cattle for a rancher up there. We rode in Idaho and Montana for that ranch. While we were there we were able to take the kids to the Yellow Stone National Park a couple of times and made a few trips to visit several out ghost towns.
Back to good ole Vale Oregon we came, and we have not left yet. Doug now works for the B L M and spends 4 days a week at McDermitt, NV. He has been in this position for 21 years now. We rented my mom's property on Bully Creek for 16 years until family problems occurred. We purchased the Townley place which connected to Moms property in 1999 then sold it in 2004 when we moved back to Willow Creek. We then bought the Don Delong Dairy property where we are as of this date still at.
There is lots more to this story but that will have to wait for another time.
