Debbie's Story

Hey all! Thanks for checking in on me! In case I didn't see you at the 20th here's my update: After high school I attended NDSU where I was an Alpha Gamma Delta and finally learned how to party! I switched to Moorhead State and graduated with an Elementary Ed. degree in '93. One of my college highlights was spending a month traveling through Europe and then living in London for 3 months while I did my student teaching. I married my college sweetie (Corey) in 1994 and we have 3 kids Cassie ('97), Sam ('00) and Max ('01) and an Australian Shepherd named Murray ('07). I have been a stay at home mom ever since Cassie was born. For the first 6 years of our marriage Corey and I lived in Minneapolis where we bought fixer-uppers and had a fun time remodeling them. Then, after 2 solid years of work on our second home (okay, I'm still a little bitter about it) Corey got transfered to Colorado. Hey, I was 5 months pregnant and loved my house, what do you expect? But, being a good wife, I followed him to Colorado where we landed in Castle Rock in 2000. I had a rough start, but finally settled in, gave birth to Sam and surprise, four months later, was pregnant with Max! After Max was born I thought I was going to lose my mind! Corey was working long hours and traveling almost every weekend so I wasn't getting much help with the kids. In 2002 We finally decided that we needed to get back to MN to be closer to family and that he ...Expand for more
needed to be home more. He ended up taking a job where he still traveled, but worked out of the house (which turned out to be almost as bad!) Luckily he found another job with an office close by! Our new home is in St. Michael, MN which has been a really nice place to be a stay at home mom. Now, in 2008 Corey is still traveling the world while I hold down the fort and get everyone to their various activities. It's pretty crazy sometimes. This year the kids have been involved in karate, hockey, soccer, Awana, choir, Destination Imagination, Lego League, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and swim team so I run around a lot. Not to mention volunteering at school, coaching Destination Imagination, PTO meetings, being a "cookie mom" and all the other fun obligations I have. I do however, get to do some fun things on my own when Corey is available to play Dad. I have bunko and book club monthly with friends and I enjoy going on scrap booking retreats twice a year. Also, now that the kids are getting older, we have started taking fun trips again. We have taken them to California, Florida and Europe and have had a great time exploring together as a family. In conclusion, yes I am a suburban housewife, but my life is anything but dull! I hope you enjoyed reading my update.
