Debbie's Story
Life: In 1976 my family moved to Blaine from Beaufort SC. I was the new girl that "talked funny". I worked on the yearbook and in 1979 I did FLAGS with the marching band. I'm sorry to say I never felt like I fit in, I'm not a fan of FREEZING weather!
My Spouse
While working as a Correctional Officer at Corcoran State Prison, my now husband was my boss. He was a Sergeant at the time. Now I'm THE BOSS!! We are both retired now and have a lake front home in Kentucky on Kentucky Lake. Our kind of peace and quiet, and natural beauty in abundance! I am now divorced but still live in my lakefront home (2015 divorce ).

We have 1 dog and 4 cats
My Kids
I had 2 boys from a previous marriage and my husband has 2 boys from a previous marriage. My 1 is 25 and my older son commited suicide at age 27 just last year (2010) and his are ages 24 and 25. Now we live in p...Expand for more
eace with all of them out of the house for a while anyway. I also have a beautiful granddaughter 2 months old!!
Workplace
I started with the Department of Corrections in 1988 at Corcoran State Prison, promoted to Wasco State Prison as a Sgt. in 1993 and transferred to California Correctional Facility in 1996 for the new experience of working a Level 4 (maxium security) prison. I was allergic to the sage brush located up in the mountains and transferred to Avenal State Prison in 1997, I hurt my back and shoulder shortly after that at work and medically retired from Avenal State Prison. I enjoyed my job immensely and would not have done anything differently with my life as far as my career is concerned. I learned that to survive in those prison walls when the inmates out-number the staff by at least 10 to 1, is to simply use the common sense God gave you. I miss it!
