Life Hi fellow "Spirit of '76" Classmates: I am currently living in Charlotte, NC (moved here almost 2 years ago)in a wonderful community called Eagle Lake. It's like the best kept secret in Charlotte! There are 22 homes surrounding a 65 acre lake, fairly deep in the woods. Originally, Eagle Lake was built in the 1940's by a group of businessmen who wanted to have a private "fishing hole". They dug the lake and it took 6 years to fill it. Then they stocked it with bass, blue gill, etc. and built cabins for themselves. In the '70's, they decided to sell off parcels/lots and eventually 22 homes were built (or renovated from the existing cabins). We are a close-knit community with lots of privacy and incredible fishing, as well as canoeing/kayaking. There are 3 wooden rafts in the middle of the lake, great for swimming and picnicing! We have annual fishing tournaments and recently a 20 lb grandpappy bass was caught. For all of you who look for that special place to fish in a place overstocked with the best eating fish in the world, Eagle Lake is a dream come true! But best of all is the beauty of the place: large trees of all kinds down to the waters' edge, woodland animals such as rabbits, geese, owls, eagles, fox, deer and many more, gorgeous flowers like Wisteria, Tulips, Honeysuckle, Jasmine (it always smells so good here) blooming throughout the spring, summer and fall. And of course, the famous North Carolina Blue Skies! My husband and I call this place "A Little Bit of Heaven"! I have 2 grow...Expand for more
