CLASS OF 1976

Debbie's Story

Life Hi fellow "Spirit of '76" Classmates: I am currently living in Charlotte, NC (moved here almost 2 years ago)in a wonderful community called Eagle Lake. It's like the best kept secret in Charlotte! There are 22 homes surrounding a 65 acre lake, fairly deep in the woods. Originally, Eagle Lake was built in the 1940's by a group of businessmen who wanted to have a private "fishing hole". They dug the lake and it took 6 years to fill it. Then they stocked it with bass, blue gill, etc. and built cabins for themselves. In the '70's, they decided to sell off parcels/lots and eventually 22 homes were built (or renovated from the existing cabins). We are a close-knit community with lots of privacy and incredible fishing, as well as canoeing/kayaking. There are 3 wooden rafts in the middle of the lake, great for swimming and picnicing! We have annual fishing tournaments and recently a 20 lb grandpappy bass was caught. For all of you who look for that special place to fish in a place overstocked with the best eating fish in the world, Eagle Lake is a dream come true! But best of all is the beauty of the place: large trees of all kinds down to the waters' edge, woodland animals such as rabbits, geese, owls, eagles, fox, deer and many more, gorgeous flowers like Wisteria, Tulips, Honeysuckle, Jasmine (it always smells so good here) blooming throughout the spring, summer and fall. And of course, the famous North Carolina Blue Skies! My husband and I call this place "A Little Bit of Heaven"! I have 2 grow...Expand for more
n children: John is 27 and Shannon is 25. John and Shannon both live in Charlotte and I have two grandchildren. My grandaughter is 10 and my grandson is 2. They are the greatest joy of my life. I've been married to my 2nd husband, Bobby, for 16 years. He's a wonderful husband and step-dad and I'm happy to say we still feel like we're on our honeymoon! I work for a Theatrical Production and Design Company that's right here at the home of one of the Eagle Lake residents. I'm primarily their bookkeeper but I do a variety of other jobs for them as well. Currently, I'm going "back to school" to learn Design Assisting which encompases 2D and 3D graphics, CAD and a host of other things associated with this business. I walk to work most days (down the gravel road, across the dam and up the hill)can work whatever hours I choose and have the greatest bosses' in the world! Steve and Linda are married and started this business 2 years ago after Paramount closed down their office in Charlotte. They are incredible artists and some of their clients are Coca-Cola and NCL (Norwegian Cruise Lines). We are growing at a tremendous rate but I really like working out of the studio here at their house. I feel like I have the greatest job in the world! So there's an overview of at least the last few years. Where did all the years go? Do any of you feel like it's been over 30 years since we were in high school? I know I don't! Can't wait to here from my old friends at EHS! With Warmest Regards, Debbie (Hood) Moye
