Debbie's Story
I was always getting into trouble for skipping class to go to the beach. I love the beach. I took up surfing and in October 1973 I moved to Leucadia, CA. While I was never considered athletic, I soon became an accomplished surfer & swimmer.
I actually was able to hold a good paying job as a bookkeeper for Alpha Beta, a grocery store, and still surf 2 to 3 times a day. I was better than most guys that surfed. As a "girl" I still had to show the guys what I was made of while earning their respect. There were only a handful of chick surfers back then and we all stuck together.
Surfing allowed me to travel some exotic places. It was the some of the best times of my life.

nd to do the surf report for KMET radio. This peaked my interest into going back to school.
After 10 years in CA I moved back home to Hialeah, to attend Miami Lakes Tech for TV Production. I then spent the next 17 years in TV news & freelance sports. Audio became my specialty, but later I became a Director/TD.
While working in West Palm I met my husband Kerry Barnes and we got married New Year Eves 1992. What a party!
In 1995 at age 40 I had our daughter, Kaitlyn. Yes I'm 59 with a 19 year old. She is a good healthy kid with a high IQ.
We have house in Cape Coral, FL. My husband works at FGCU and I work for Hilton Grand Vacation Club on Sanibel Island. Almost every morning I see dolphins on my way to work. What a life!
