Debbie's Story
My husband and I live in SW Florida. For me it took some time to become adjusted to the humidity in the summer, but I don't miss the NE winters. We lived in Overland Park KS. for 11 years, before returning back to live in Sparta NJ and now retiring to Fl. Kansas was a wonderful place to raise my two girls, it wasn't easy returning to overpriced real-estate and an overcrowded public school system. We lived in Sparta for 10 years. In that time I was able to use my Health Information Degree for six years at a private Rehab Hospital in Lafayette NJ.
I left that job 4 years ago and started my own accessory business, which was successful, but in having moved to Fl, starting all over has been a challenge, it's going, but going very slowly. Naples is very seasonal, so it's either feast or famine.
My oldest daughter lives only 2 1/2hrs away in W.Palm Beach. Sh...Expand for more
e has a bachelors degree in business, and uses that as the administrative asst to the head chef of the Ritz Carlton.
My youngest daughter will get her Assoc. Degree in Enviormental Engineering this Spring in NJ, and is planning on going to Gulf Coast University in Fl this fall.
Both girls live on their own, but still call if life isn' t going their way.
The best part about living in Naples is your surrounded by nature and we only live 5 minutes from the beach. So anytime I want, I can go to the beach with my new little Havanese puppy Ricky and watch a beautiful sunset or rise.
Going out on the boat is a challenge in Jan/Feb because of extremely low tides, but kayaking is our other option. The wildlife here is beautiful.
I volunteer one day a week at the Conservancy of SW Florida, I have always had a deep appreciation for nature.
