Life Each time I try to write something I become stymied. How does one condense 40 years to a few thousand characters? I'll make a stab at it since I'm now retired and don't want to venture outside in the cold rain. Steve and I have two grown children: Sam turned 35 on Christmas. He's a firefighter and paramedic in Des Plaines, IL (Chicago), triathlete, Iron Man and urban eco-challenge competitor. Jessica, our daughter, will be 33 in August and lives in Downers Grove, a Chicago suburb. She's an ACD at a Chicago agency whose primary client is Coors Beer. She's also a character, much like her father, and should be a stand-up comedian. Sam and I share a much milder temperament. I retired a few years ago from a Public Safety Department (police, fire, ems) and as my new occupation, now restore the dolls I played with as a child. I was an art director in a former life (before children) and still dabble in the field. Computers make it so much easier. My husband is an illustrator/animator/designer but spent 20 years in the ad biz before going out on his own 20 years ago. We both have the luxury of being able to work from home. We've lived just north of Chicago in Glencoe for the past 25 years and I've successfully learned to ignore winter.
