Debbie's Story
Hello, I don't know if you remember me or not, but I am probably the only person that went to school with no shoes.
And I still don't wear shoes.
Just wanted to let everyone know that for the last 6 yrs. I have been raising autism awareness in our community. My 9 yr. old grandson, Daylin, was diagnosed with autism and the age of 3 and it has changed my life completely.
I now have a non-profit organization and I run our local support group meetings.
April is autism awareness month and our organization is getting ready for alot of events this month.
We will be having our 1st penny drive. Any business, church, kids sports teams, work places, etc is invited to participate. We do have containers if interested.
We will be having a autism sem...Expand for more
inar on April 21st. Speakers, informational tables, food, door prizes. This is free and open to the public with donations accepted. This will take place at the USWA #169, 376 W. Longview Ave. 6-9 pm
We will also be having a spaghetti dinner on April 23rd from 4-7 pm to be held at the VFW #3494, 853 Ashland Road.
Look for our 6th annual autism walk-a-thon on Sept. 17th!!
I would really appreciate getting our community involved in autism awareness.
1 in 110 of our children are being diagnosed.
Autism is 4 times more prevalent in boys than girls.
More children will be diagnosed with autism this yr. than with AIDS, diabetes, and cancer combined.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with our events. Just give me a shout if interested.
