Debbie's Story
I retired in June 2011, after 32 years in education. I taught a little bit of everything from Gr 1-12, with most of my years in Gr 7-9. The last 8 years of my career were spent coordinating student services for the school division in which I worked. I completed my Masters in Education (special ed) in 2004. In Sept. 2012, I went back as a Resource Teacher to one of my old division's high schools.. for a 4 month term which turned into three years, plus a year doing contract work with the division. I "re" retired in June 2016.
My kids are both grown and moved away. I lost my husband of 30 years to cancer in spring of 2009. Craig Fraser ...Expand for more
and I reconnected in 2015, and have been together since spring of 2016. He has now moved to Brandon.
I am very involved in a medieval living history group - Society for Creative Anachronism. I travel extensively, in Canada and the US through this hobby. I also spend a lot of time with my three rescue german shepherd crosses, my cat and Craig's cat... both cats are also rescues!
I travelled to Italy in summer 2013 with Joanne Tokar. We spent two weeks with a tour group. I've also been to Cuba twice. The next trips will be to Macchu Pichu in Peru, British Isles, Sweden, and definitely more hot weather winter vacations to the Caribbean.
