Debbie's Story
Life
It's great to be living in the Houston area after being gone so many years - who says you can't go home again? My life is calm (thank God) for the first time in ages - I work, I go to movies and concerts with friends and family, I enjoy lots of activities at my church and I adore my 4 grandsons (ages 15, 10, 3 and 1).
School
I remember high school as great fun - filled with wonderful teachers and friends. People I still remember and admire include Mrs. Armor (counselor), Mrs. Vinson (English teacher), Mr. Lackey (US History teacher), and of course, my mom - Thelma McCart, the school nurse.
The happiest/craziest times I recall are having to swallow a bug because I was talking while at attention in drill team practice, not getting caught with 10 people in my Chevy trying a "chinese fire drill" at the light in front of Sears, and the exasperated look on my dad's face each time I asked him to take me to break up with a certain boy - who shall remain nameless (it's not safe to tell - yet!)
College

it took me to get a degree won't be surprised that I'm back in school. This time I'm getting a license in professional counseling so I can work in Christian based counseling ministries for women.
Workplace
You name it, I've done it. My first job was Christmas gift wrap at the Sears in Pasadena; then selling furs (God forbid!) at Gulfgate Joske's. After high school I worked construction with my dad, and I was a bank teller the 12 years I was a military wife. During the 80s, I worked as a meeting planner and wedding caterer while in California. And when a short stint as a fund raiser was no fun, I started going to school at night to become a teacher, then principal, and now special education administrator. I love what I do now so I doubt there will be many more changes.
Military
While I never enlisted, I was an Air Force wife from 1975 to 1985 and loved the people and places we got to experience. Favorite bases we lived on include: Lackland (TX), Little Rock (AR), Norton (CA), Hickam (Hawaii) and Clark (in the Philipppines).
