Debbie's Story

I moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1996 and have lived in AZ since then except for two years when I lived on Maui. In a serious relationship with Tom Garland MD (Class of '70).. Tom is moving to Prescott on 4/24/21 to start his new position as Medical Director over 7 Nursing Home facilities in N Arizona. I really enjoy our 4 Seasons that Prescott, AZ offers. I love music, my 3 rescue dogs and I enjoy being active and happy in life. I am in excellent health and hope to live at least another 20 years. I have had my AZ real estate license for over 23 years so anyone considering a move to the Phoenix or Prescott area, please contact me so that I can help you with your possible move to AZ. While working real estate in the Phoenix area, I did 24 fix and flips and two Trustee Sale properties so I have loads of experience with remodels. My real estate license is currently with Realty One Group Mountain Desert in Prescott, AZ. Prescott is an absolutely gorgeous place to live so please do yourself a favor and come take a look! We have very low taxes, four seasons, beautiful lakes, gorgeous boulders, miles and miles of hiking trails (125+) with more being built. The list goes on and on. My favorite subjects at BCHS were Math and Science. I graduated from Carroll College in 1972. I then attended Univ of Wisconsin and received my Masters Degree in 1973. I moved to Houston, TX where I worked as the HR Director for 250 attorney law firm in 2 locations. After work and on weekends, I taught 37 piano students each week. I was in Houston from 1973 to 1978 then I returned to WI to work for my Dad's point-of-sale advertising business in New Berlin as his Production Manager. At the same time, my Mother and I opened up an antique shop in Elm Grove. We participated in many antique shows on the weekends. In 1980, I married Greg Jonas who graduated with his Masters from Marquette and worked for Allis Chalmers. He was transferred to Rochester, NY, where our two sons were born. We were there for nearly 10 years and then moved to North Carolina for 8 years...first to Gastonia and then to Matthews, a Charlotte suburb. While living in North Carolina, I worked for Dunhill. I left after a year and owned/operated my own recruiting business where I placed medical professionals of all types in both rural and large teaching hospitals for about 8 years. I did this from my home while my kids were young. I was also the largest secondary market distributor of Annette Himstedt dolls in the U.S., selling approximately $450,000 worth of dolls annually through Doll Reader Magazine and th...Expand for more
e internet. My youngest son lives in Seattle. He received his PhD in Computer Science from ASU. He got married in 3/2019 on Oahu and he and his wife had a baby girl on 8/20/2020, making me a Grandma for the first time. My oldest Son lives in Surprise, AZ. My 3 rescue dogs are my other kids. I divorced and moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1996. I received my AZ real estate license in 4/1998. I was one of the top producing agents in the N Phoenix, Scottsdale, Carefree and Cave Creek areas. I moved to Maui, HI, in 2013 for two years and moved back to the Mainland...this time to Prescott, AZ. After arriving at my current Prescott home in 12/2014, I did a total remodel for 9 months. My current home is surrounded by gorgeous boulders, evergreen trees and junipers.. I have to say Prescott, AZ is one of my very favorite places I have ever lived. It is a small, quaint town with hills, rocks, lakes, great views and no major freeways. It's always on the Top Ten Lists of Best Places to Retire. Prescott is also one of the five cleanest air cities in the US. It is a great outdoor activity town. Prescott was the first AZ Territorial Capital and was recently named Arizona's Christmas Town. It has the oldest and longest running rodeo in the U.S. Prescott turned 156 years old in 2020. We are close to Jerome, Sedona, Cottonwood and Flagstaff. We are approximately 1.5 hrs from Phoenix. If you have never seen the Grand Canyon, you definitely need to add it to your bucket list !! My main interest besides real estate is collecting, buying and selling authentic Navajo rugs. I sell them through 10 Navajo rug auctions per year as well as through Craigslist. I sell more Navajo rugs than any one else in the Prescott area. My parents bought their first Navajo rug in 1960 when we first went to a dude ranch in Wickenburg, AZ, I still have that rug! As a family, we went to that same dude ranch twice a year for all of our family vacations....riding horses, going in rodeos, exploring old gold mines, etc. I cannot imagine a family having more fun on vacation than we did. Every August my family did fly in fishing in Northern Canada. I didn't appreciate all that our parents did for us then, but I sure do now. By the way, I love to fish! I attended our Brookfield Central 10th and 25th Class Reunions., I could not make it back for my 50th Reunion. Please write and let me know what you are doing in life. I'd love to hear from you.
