Debbie's Story

Graduated early ¿ January 71, in a hurry to get on with life ¿ I lived in a dream world through school anyway. I was that strange girl. Married my man April 22nd and moved to Florida to work on my tan. Lived outside of Orlando for a couple of years then moved to the gulf coast side of Florida (Bradenton and Tampa area). Had two beautiful baby girls and continued to work on my tan. We moved back to Texas, Golden Triangle area in 1976. We had another little girl. I did the girl scout leader thing (broke my tail bone ¿ had to sit on a donut for awhile), CCD teacher, secretary for Catholic Women, member of the altar society, event organizer, cook, first aid nurse, you break it - I fixed it, and who knows what else I did. Too long ago ¿ if it involved the church or children I was involved. Did I work, yes I worked didn¿t you just read all that I was doing. Actually I did work at a CPA firm and a Home Health Agency before we moved to SC. In 1983 the oil business wasn¿t going well and Rob along with a lot of our friends was out of a job. We moved to South Carolina in the summer of 1984. We have been here ever since. I learned to drink my tea sweeter than ever before and added sweeter to my natural sarcasm. Learned that not all barbeque is beef and OMG, when I saw how they cooked barbeque chicken the first time I about felt off the planet. In 1985, homesick/lonely/bored/needed money, I went to work at an environmental consulting firm and they jokingly tell me that they will keep me in my casket at my desk to keep handling things when I go. When I started here I looked like I was 16 (when I find the photo I¿ll post it) and now I look ¿ well I¿ll be nice to myself and just say different (meaning...Expand for more
older/bigger). I continue to work hard at not being a work alcoholic. I¿m a software geek (notice I didn¿t say hardware ¿ I hate the hardware side of computers ¿ boring). I wear multiple hats which makes for a more interesting job (marketing/management/trainer/moral booster/heavy sarcasm/make it happen kind of person). I multi-task like crazy and yes I am way nuts and just a tad eccentric . Our girls are great. They all turned out wonderful in spite of their parents mistakes. We have four granddaughters and one grandson so far (one sperm survived the high acid content and broke three generations of all girls) YEAH!!! You know all those things our parents did with the kids that we hated ¿ yep, we get to do them now. Spoil them rotten and send them home. We only have one baby living with us now, our cat Dixie (no, I did not give her that awful name you will have to ask my son-in-law why he did this). She started out being their cat but he found out that he was allergic to her. I miss my other babies (why can¿t they live as long as we do). Rob keeps saying we are getting out of the pet business but I do not see that happening as we get older. I'm happy with my age and I can color my hair any color I want - gray covers easier than dark brown. If I went the lottery I go to California for a full body makeover but since that isn't happening I make due with what I have. I still love to read, do crafts, and love to buy new plants each year. Actually quite a few made it to this year, maybe I'm finally learning or is did I just find stronger plants. I¿m terrible with names, but great with faces and memories so share, share , share, put those pictures up and tell us what¿s up with you and yours.
