Debbrah's Story
Life
I got married in Dec 1971, had a boy named Frankie Dean Whatley,Jr.on 9-12-74, then a girl named Tami Valinda Whatley on 9-3-77. Frankie is now 33. He has 2 girls, my oldest grand-daughter will be 14 in Feb. her name is Maranda and my #2 grand-daughter turned 11 last Oct. her name is Madison. Frankie is divorced from the girls mother. They live with her here in Bakersfield,Calif. where I live. Tami is married and lives in Meridan,Idaho with her husband Tony Martinez and their 3 beautiful girls. Lashae Monique will be 11 in Feb. Chandrea Marie will be 9 in Feb. and our baby Zaylen Marae will be 4 in July. Yes I'm the Grandmother of 5 girls!!! Maranda and Madison have a half brother from their mothers second marriage. His name is Joey and he just turned 7 in Nov. We've adopted him as our grandson and I love him just like the others.
I divorced my children's dad in 1981 after 10 yrs of marriage. I remarried in Oct 1984 to Elwin Hunt after 3 yrs of us living together. He has 3 sons. We have been together for 26 yrs. Elwin has been a teacher at San Jouquin Valley College for 19yrs. It's a private Jr college,and he teaches Heating and Air Conditioning. He finished his Masters Degree in Education 2 yrs ago. I'm very proud of his accomplishments. In case anyone is curious, if you remember I'm only 4'10", my 1st husband is 6ft but Elwin is 5'3". My son is 6ft and my daughter is 5'8". My 2 oldest grandaughters are taller than both of us!!!
Like I said before we live in Bakersfield,Calif. been here since 1-19-83. We moved from Merced,Ca and before that I lived in Chowchilla 17 miles south of Merced. That where we moved to when we left Berlin. My sister Donna lives in Salida,Ca which is just north of Modesto. Donna is currently divorcing her husband of 25 yrs. It was her second marriage. She married her first husband in Aug.1971 had 1 boy and 1 girl and now has 5 grandkids, 3 girls and 2 boys. The oldest one Brittany is serving in Iraq at this time.
I'm a stay at home grandma these days. My health hasn't been the best over the last year. Please pray that things will be bett...Expand for more

Elwin and I own our home and are discussing plans to do some remodeling and redecorating, so I'm always thinking about colors and patterns ect... We've been in this house for 18yrs and 5 generations of my family have lived with us at one time or another. My maternal grandmother, my mother, my real father, my son and his girls. My brother Jim has lived here and 2 of Elwins sons. Right now it's just Elwin and me and our 2 dogs. We have Mini Schnauzer's, they are litter mates and will be 8 in June. Our males name is Rhett Butler and the female is Scarlet. The Vet called them "The Gone with the Wind dogs"!! We spoil them rotten and feel like their our babies.
I lost my mother to cancer in June 1994. She was only 57 yrs old. I still miss her everyday!
My mother and stepfather divorced when we came back to the states, that's why we left Berlin. Earl is still my dad though and he is my little brother Jim's real father. He retired at Beal Air Force Base in Yuba City,Ca which is about 5 1/2 hrs. north. We still visit each other when we can and call often. My brother Jim is 42 now and divorcing with 1 son 13yrs old. He lives in Modesto near Donnna,but they don't speak. Their about 3 1/2 hrs. north.
As far as my further education, I went to a vocational school when I was about 38 and earned a degree in Healthcare. I went to work for a medical supply where we dealt primarily with Durable Medical Equipment. Then about 5 yrs later I decide to return to school. This time I earned my A.S.Degree in Healthcare Administration.
I did Medical Billing and Coding for awhile but it was boring. I went to work as a Resource Program Specialist at an elementry school. I had grades 1st thru 5th. I taught them phonics. It was special ed. so I had 5 student at a time for 1hr. and 5 groups. I did that for 2yrs. I was also a Girl Scout leader for 2 years. Both of my 2 oldest granddaughter's were in my troop. They're why I did it, they were living with me at the time. We had and made great memories that we all will remember for life. If we forget, I have lots of video and pictures!!!!
