Debora's Story
All I knew was I wanted to go to college and take up something in the psychology field once I graduated from High School. Well, once I got there it seemed like everybody else wanted the same degree. So, I got my degree in Sociology instead. Big change ;-)
I had my beautiful son 3 weeks prior to my Junior year at Southeastern University of Mass, now known as University of Mass North Dartmouth. It was quite the challenge, but with great friends and a stubborn nature I graduated.
My first jobs were at Harvard Dental, then Radcliffe College. I was a horrible secretary. Finally, I worked as a social worker in Weymouth, MA. for two years. After sliding through a light on ice with a twelve year old pedophile in the back seat, then the last straw was just dropping off a chronic run away and immediately getting hit by a runaway car...Expand for more
that left me there hurt and dazed during a torrential rain storm. I decided it was time to do something else.
I have family in Florida and that was a place I always enjoyed when we visited. Truth be told I had been long distance dating a Florida guy and he begged me to come. We shortly got married, then shortly thereafter divorced.
I've now been married to my life partner for 9 years and work as an Activity Director for a senior community. My kids are grown and between us we have 9 grands. We have quite the busy life.
My present goal has been to create toys for Deaf kids and people who love sign language. I have a prototype and am working toward getting it patented, then marketed and sold. I believe every infant deserves to have toys that help them communicate in the world and am working toward making that a reality.
