Deborah's Story
Life
Hello,
I have not had a particularly exciting life. I was in the
US Army and got to travel and see a little bit of the world. Married after High School, divorced in 1979. In 2002 my Ex brother in law played match maker to me and my Ex husband and I will be moving to Massachusetts later in 2004 to remarry him! Guess that is the most exciting thing to happen to me in a long time.
I moved from Ft. Lauderdale to Inverness, Florida 18 months ago. It is a smallish town and I rent a little house on 7 acres on a lake which has lots of alligators and mosquitoes. My first encouter with this country life came 60 days after my arrival here when I had to kill a Coral Snake on my front porch. Then I did a stupid thing by feeding the Racoons that came up, but stopped when the started knocking down my trash cans to find more goodies.
Have a son 19 years old who is both my life and a pain in my butt. I think that just comes with the territory of having a teenager. He is studying to be a Chef and has won a Bronze Medal in a State Culinary Arts Conrest. I'm very proud of him.
That's about it. Debbie 3/11/04

School
I was very active in HS, writing for the school news...Expand for more
paper (Pen & Scroll Society), service clubs (Anchor- Sophmore Anchor of the Year)), had some interest in student council (did the carwash thing), Pep Club (V.P & Pres), intermural sports...Wish I had applied myself more in my studies. I loved High School and wish I had not been so quiet and unsure of myself then. Looking forward to my 30 year reunion this year.

Military
Did things backwards I think. Started in the National Guard, then the Reserves and then the Active Army. Was a Lab Tech on active duty and went to school when I got out to obtain my state licence in Florida...graduated but never took my state boards! I loved and hated my time in the active army. Met some really wonderful people at each duty station, unfortunetly had a few NCO's that made life hell for many of us and that ultimately made me decide to get out. I would have preferred to have made a career out of it, but the bad began to out weigh the good.
Was in the MEDDAC at Ft. Campbell and Red Stone Arsenal and with
F Co, 4th Sup Bn, 3rd Armor Division in Hanau, W.Germany.
Don't think I would join today but would not trade the experiences I had for the world.
