Deborah's Story
After HS, I went to State Tech for a year taking Accounting and Computer courses. Then I started working at South Central Bell in the Accounting Dept. I married in 1971 to Tommy Walker from Millington. I quit work in 1975 to be a stay at home Mom. During that time, I had 4 children: Brian, Keith, Melissa and Kathryn. I went back to work in 1985 at Briarcrest Christian Schools as their bookkeeper. Tommy and I divorced in 1987 after a 2 year separation. after my divorce taking more accounting classes and business management. In 1989 I started working with Independent Presbyterian Church and was there for 13 1/2 years before moving to NM with my husbands job. In late 1991 I met Larry and we married in May 1998. My children are all married and I have 4 beautiful grandchildren ranging in ages from 19 months to 6 years. They are the joy of my life, but I miss them terribly as they are all in Memphis and Oakland. I now work for a Masonry Contractor as their Accountant/Office Manager. We enjoy living here in Albuquerque, but I do miss the South, but NOT the humidity. In my spare time I smock for my three granddaughters.
