Deborah's Story

Wow! This seems so strange but it has been fun seeing the old friends that I use to know and finding out how they are and where. Tom and I have been married for 33 years as of last week. We have 2 great daughters, Shannon is 29 and Megan is 27. Shan and Mitch(our wonderful son-in-law) live in Chicago and Meg lives here in Lakeland, Fl. We were in the AirForce until Tom retired in 1998. Then we lived in Evansville where Tom joined a large clinic and practiced medicine there for 10 years. We loved being in the midwest again after traveling all over for 10 of the previous years while in the AF. Then we started getting really tired of the cold weather and wanted to play alot more golf! So an opportunity knocked regarding Tom's career and here we are in Lakeland. Florida! We are 45 minutes away from Disney and/or Tampa. If you ever need a place to stay we love entertaining and we have rooms to spare. I have been so fortunate in my life to stay home through the years with our girls but it sure is nice to have them on their own. We have been so blessed to have the many friends we have made in the military and at our stay in Ind. I just don't know what else to write but I will add on eventually. I just hope everyone is well and finds happiness in their lives! Debbie Kramer I blow steam off by exercising mostly or talking to a friend about what is going on. Meditation always helps me also One of heroes will always be Mrs. Young from NHS! She taught English and she took a personal interes in me outside of the classroom when things were very difficult at home. I will never forget her. She was so amazing! The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Brenda Stafford, because I miss her and I owe her a huge apology. I ...Expand for more
would really like to find her and talk with her. Well since I have written the above, one of the things that was important to accomplish was to find Brenda Stafford Woods and I did!! We have become very close and actually her husband Dan and Brenda were just here in Florida for a week to visit with Tom and I. We had so much fun and it was like I had never been away from her! We speak EVERY Wednesday afternoon and so far have not missed our phone call since we reconnected back in March! Thanks to Mary Buckley and some others, I was able to find her. Thanks so much for your help! The other important event in our life is that we have a new addition, no I am not pregnant! Ha!Ha! We had our first grandchild! Her name is Makena Suzanne Backes and she is so amazing. I never realized how wonderful it would be, becoming a grandmother. She was born on Feb. 1st, 2010. I also have been fortunate enought to find Carol Kerr Schwartz and Candy King West again. It has been just wonderful to email and talk with them. I plan a trip to Indpls. to see all of them this year and I am looking so forward to it! One more thing that is important to me is the fact that Tom has retired from medicine and we believe just in time. It is awesome having him around, I have not had that luxury very often in the past 33 years! He retired just in time to go to Chicago for 6 weeks to be with our daughter and son-in-law before Makena was born and then 5 weeks after she arrived. Life is good for the most part and once again I wish only the very best to all of you that I knew at NHS and those that I didn't know well. Will definitely be at our class reunion next year and I have already RSVP!!! Take care everyone and God Bless! Much Love, Debbie Field Kramer
