Deborah's Story
While I did attend Farrington during my sophomore and junior years in high school, I did NOT graduate with the FHS class of 1968. My father, employed as a subcontractor to a sheet metal company that worked on Kwajalein n the Marshall Islands, moved our family in the summer of 1967 to this army missile base that is 2 miles by a half a mile in the shape of a boomerang about 2500 miles south west of Hawaii. (It is the island of torture that Zamperini suffered under the rule of the Japanese in WWII as featured in Angelina Jolie's film UNBROKEN.)
Prior to FHS, I went to Nuuanu Baptist's kindergarten, MaeMae Elementary (grades 1-6) and then Hawaii Baptist Academy (grades 7-9). Since FHS class of 68's Twentieth Reunion, I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting classmates at different activities including Karaoke events, a trip to Maui, scholarship luncheons and monthly lunch gatherings. I had English with Steve Takekawa and homeroom with Renee Dascoscos Gamiao who both have in the past. allowed me to attend committee planning meetings for the class. It has been a privilege to meet '68 grads that I did not have the chance to have in class! AND kudos for all the work put into fundraising for scholarships! GO GOVs!!
