Update 1/15/09 After much soul searching, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher, despite the low pay and lifestyle changes/sacrifices which I've had to make. I received my elementary teaching credential in the summer, but did not find a job in August due to the State of California's budget problems. School districts started the year with substitute teachers which they later hired. In my overconfidence that I would find a job, I went gallivanting around Santa Monica with several family members instead of attending the summer sub orientation (bad decision)! Currently, I spend most of my time subbing part-time, volunteering, and working diligently on losing the weight I gained during my schooling. I have three more classes to finish my master's degree, but I'm waiting until I find a job because it could hurt my chances of getting a job. They have to pay you more!
