Deborah (Roy)'s Story

Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect.I am a true believer in miracles because I was lost for 20 years and now I'm not, and that's truly a miracle! I'm back in school, go figure, and studing Computerized Accounting. That's a miracle in it's self because I had absolutely no knowledge of computers until this year. I had never even seen the web. So having said all that, I'm just wanting to get connected again. So here I am, better late than never! Debbie Roy Now it is time to update my story, because I know that some remember me and some just don't know. I grew in Oceano and went to Oceano Elementary, Kindergarden through the Third Grade. Except for part of the Second Grade. Grover Heights, the year Kennedy died. Then we went to Connecticut for 3 years. Went to the second half of the Sixth Grade, again in Oceano, No.Oceano Elem. to be exact. Then I became a teenager and spent the 7th and 8th grade at Orchard Ave. Jr. High. I was very shy, and a follower, never a leader. In the 8th grade I did get the opportunity to design the divider pages of the Yearbook and Sheryl Machado did the cover, She did a really nice job, too, by the way. That was about 69. Then we all went together at the famous Crown Hill campus. That was the first year that girls were allowed to wear pants to school. Well, as long as they were not blue jeans. Now, I took that literally so I wore purple jeans, and almost got expelled. I was getting to be a bit of a rebel. Then we went to Idaho for a year. The Grand Tetons were my back yard. I got to work in Jackson Hole for ...Expand for more
the summer and the winter I worked at the Grand Targee Ski Resort. Went 1/2 of my 11th year in San Luis Obispo. Then ended up at Lopez Continuation and graduated a year early. So, to those of you that don't remember me from the main campus, this my story. The 9th grade was when I was last amongst the majority. But from Kindergarden to the 9th grade I was around. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;) After I graduated I got married and had a son. I only have one child. I worked at San luis Bay Inn and opened Mulligans. I also worked a Spyglass Inn and was there when the Seaventure opened. From then I managed a little motel in Pismo. Then in 88 is where I became lost for 20 years and now I am back to the beginning of the story. Now I am in Fresno. My mom lives here. So I live here. I got my diploma in Accounting but I'm going back next month to get my associate's degree. Now my story has gone full circle... Thanks for being curious and have a blessed day. Now I am in a whole new chapter of my life. I still take care of my Mom and I work for a financial advisor in Clovis, Ca. I recently bought my first home. It is small and it is as old as I am but it is mine and it fits me like a glove. I have come a long way and I have God to thank for it. I live everyday in his presence and am very grateful for everything I do and don't have. Life is good even when it's not. I will never take it for granted again. Thanks again for being curious and again, have a Blessed day. Debbie (Roy) Marlin
