Deborah's Story
What a life!
In some respects, I'm surprised tp have made it to the ripe old age of 57.
I was sent off to the University of Cincinnati following high school. With a BS in Biology, I was at a loss as to what to do with my life.
Through the years, I gained the experience to become a Certified IH (CIH) and also a CSP (CSP)) for Safety.
My following employment consisted of applying my specialty at Halliburton in TX (first husband loved Dallas-I hated it), Andrew Jergens, Hamilton Fixture, State of Ohio Safety & Hygiene as a consultant, and finally State of WV as a S&H consultant. I'm now at CTC working on a contract to put Army S&H health into a database to track exposure problems. I'm still there-working out of my home in Charleston, WV.
My 2 children, Brendan and Audrey, were born in TX (actually Brendan in New Orleans but that's another story). I had had enough by 1984, and ...Expand for more
quit in order to personally take care of my children, and the hubby went along. I was in Cincinnati for 18 years before returning to WV.
Brendan just turned 30; Audrey 29. No mates in sight, so having grandchildren is not happening any time soon. It's ok. Audrey is a HS Spanish teacher, and Brendan is - well, working for a variety of physicians at UC. They're happy, so I'm happy for them.
I'm happy with my lifemyself. My hobbies are born on the right side of the brain while I spent my career working the left side of the brain. Parents had decided my course in life, and I've been successful, but sometimes I wonder what would have happened.................
40 years. Hard to believe. Silver hair and reading glasses. Light years from retirement, I'll keep on living - under my own terms, enjoying every minute, every experience, and exercising the right to wear bright colors.
