Deborah's Story
Life
Mine was a pleasant childhood and I enjoyed my school years and home town having many warm memories. I got my A.S. at Rio Hondo college in Whittier taking business courses. I married my H.S. sweetheart, Wes Chesarek (also a MHS grad) who I met while working at the MHS pool the summer before my Sr. year. Wes got a BS from UCLA. We both worked at the UCLA hospital in different areas for a few years. We then both ended up working for ARCO Solar for 15 & 17 years in Chatsworth and in Camarillo. Wes in the R&D area, I in Telecommunications, Security and Info Svcs. A great company. Later, it was purchased by Siemens and then by Shell Oil. The job loss "reorg/hatchet" fell after all those years and life in So. Cal ended for us. Wes found employment in SW Ohio in 97'. How beautiful the 4 seasons are here! We've got an acre of land too! Unimaginable in Montebello! After enjoying 14 yrs alone, we had 2 children, Kelly & Will (before leaving CA.) Before the move, I also got a short 3 mo. gig working on the Paramount Pictures lot in telecom and it was a dream come true to be at a movie studio! I...Expand for more
have mega amounts of movies, recorded, and purchased in my collection. Old classics, epics and musicals are my favorites. I did'nt have to work for 2 years after the move to OH, then the co. bringing us here, closed for Wes...I'd been volunteering in my kid's elem. schools and LOVED being with the students! I took a low stress job (to me!) and do study hall in our town's H.S. So I'm back in H.S. again! I'm also a confident to many students who like to share concerns with a caring adult. It's rewarding touching their lives. I also work in our beautiful H.S. auditorium and work in our awesome light and sound tech booth and do plays, musicals, band & choir concerts and community functions. It's still a piece of Hollywood right? My son is 1 merit badge away from becoming an Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts. Not bad for a 7th grader! My daughter is on the H.S. swim team and is a "teen mentor." She with others, are role models to younger kids that help with self-esteem issues, conflict resolution and staying straight and making good decisions keeping away from drinking, drugs and destructive decisions.
