Deborah's Story

Life I worked at St. Louis's largest locally-owned Advertising Agency and now my husband has started his own full-service marketing company so I work part-time as their Media Director. We are now proud grandparents to four children and loving this! My husband, Ed, and I try to travel whenever possible and think about returning to Florida when we retire. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have air-conditioning, my cell phone, and snacks to be able to deal with the day-to-day. I would love to see Mr. Reininghaus, my junior year American History teacher. He was really cool in every way. If I won $100 million, I'd give a fourth of it to various charities of it to a fourth to breast cancer research, then spend the rest on family, endowing a chair at U of Missouri and Unicef. Go to a very funny movie or ride my bike or take a very challenging spinning class if it's a typically hot oppressive St. Louis summer day. I don't think I'd have been considered wild at all in high school. Lived all my college years and married life here in Missouri. How boring. If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to various charities of it to a fourth to breast cancer research , then spend the rest on family, friends and endowing a chair at U. of Missouri. Lived in a co-ed dorm my first year at Mizzou then back in Orlando for the second year and then back to Missouri and got married as a senior. I pledged Alpha Epsilon Phi but wasn't inititated. I'd be living in Sarosota doing volunteer work at a children's hospital and having our children and grandchildren come for frequent visits. I'd also love to travel all over the world. My current age is 61. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be really old and decrepit. I was so completely wrong and off base.. Enjoying working part time for my husband's company. He and I have worked together on and off for the past 27 years. I have no idea what happened to my first crush. H...Expand for more
is name will remain nameless. My best friend would tell you I'm warm and kind of shy, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as standoffish or snobbish. My daughters advise me on clothes-my husband always manages to buy me outfits that are a size too small. Oh to be a 4 again! Weirdest job was working for a bakery in their accounting office and not understanding receiveable and payables. Hey, I was only 17! I share my home with my hubby of 40 years, which I find wonderful. First place in 35 age group for racquetball. Only sports award I've ever won. I'm not a jock and never was. I would have been a much more compassionate teacher my first year out of college. I didn't have much empathy with my students and they had a lot of struggles in their lives. That is definitely one thing I'd like a chance at doing over. Debby Murray Pearce and I met at 8th grade cheerleader tryouts at Robert E. Lee Jr. High and we've been close friends every since-it's been 47 years! I'm not sure why we jelled but we just did. At the 40th reunion in 05 I didn't get a chance to speak to all the people I wanted to . If there's a 45th I hope I can do this. I don't think I'd do or say anything that would particularly surprise anyone at the next reunion. My first job was at Marvin elementary, where I got paid $6,500 a year to teach 4th grade. What I remember most about it is how fun the kids were then and how great their parents were-always concerned and interested in how their children were doing. Very supportive and the kids were very well-behaved.. When I was in the fourth grade and the school years before that I was frequently sent to stand outside my classes because I talked so much. My fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Hubka had me sit very close to her desk for the first quarter and then sat my way in the back the rest of the year. She told my mom how much self-control I'd exercised and I wasn't a jabbermouth anymore.
