Deborah's Story
Married Howard in 1973, left Michigan in 1974 so he could continue his Navy career. Shawn, my 1st son was born in Indiana in '75. He also has my 3 grandchildren.His wife is at the 20 yr mark of her Air Force career and they are currently in Maryland. He served 1 tour in the Air Force w/ time in Okinawa. He is now a master mechanic for a Porsche/Audi dealership. Lynnwood, 2nd son was born in Hawaii in '80. He is in Kentucky as a cook in a Japanese resturant My 3rd son, Christopher, was born in Japan in '83. He moved with us last year when we returned to MI, after living on his own for 10 yrs in Oklahoma. My 4th son, Chandler was born in '98 in Oklahoma. We were his foster parents from 3 days old until '01 when he became eligible for adoption. He's now in 9th grade.
Howard was in the 1st graduating class of Northern in '67. He served a total of 23 years in the US Navy as a part of the "Silent Service" on submarines. He was then in the Civil Service for 15 yrs. ly it will be the last! I would not change the life I've had and I truly enjoyed all that it had to offer. All my sons are extremely independent and confidant. It's wonderful to be back in Michigan.
My 2 younger sons are special needs. Chris is autistic and CJ was born cocaine addicted, so I've spent their lives getting medical and educational services to meet their changing needs. It's an uphill battle that will never end, but their successes have had many positive results.
I have always been interested in many different types of crafting. If something catches my interest I can usually teach myself what I want to learn. For a couple of years in Oklahoma I had my own business selling all types of wreaths, floral arrangements, silk bonsai trees (I learned to make them in Japan because every real one, Howard bought me I killed) I've also given classes to others in numerous areas. Currently I offer holiday services to the public, where I provide the in home service of decorating a with garlands, wreaths etc., and then return and take it down when the season is over.
