Debra's Story
Life
After Jackson High School, I went to Boston University, where I graduated in 1992 with a degree in advertising. I married Brian Peters from Flemington, NJ in 1996, whom I met square dancing. We just had our first child, Zachary in April, 2004. We currently live in Newtown, PA in a townhouse that is now too small for the three of us and our three cats. In my free time, we still like to square dance, and I enjoy cross stitching and reading.
School
My most memorable time at Jackson High School was being a part of the Yearbook staff during Junior and Senior years. I still love looking at our Senior Yearbook and knowing that I designed the layouts for a majority of the book and even took pictures for it. I still keep in touch with my three best friends from JMHS -- Janice, Felicia and Amy, as well as a few of my friends from my other passion during high school, USY.
College
I went to Boston University's College of Communication from 1988 - 1992. During college, I was active...Expand for more
in the COM/SGA, serving as Treasurer and President. I helped to bring back the Delta chapter of Sigma Kappa Sorority and was its founding Recording Secretary. I became a Sophomore Peer Advisor and a College Dean's Host. I especially enjoyed going to BU hockey games, most importantly the Beanpot tournament, and many of the school plays and comedy shows. My senior year, I had a great job with the Student Activities Office.
Workplace
After college, I came home to Jackson, NJ and worked for a small advertising dept. in Millburn, NJ and then switched to one in Toms River, NJ a year later. After a lay off, I switched careers and entered retail, working for Casual Corner, Warner Brothers Studio Stores and finally ending up in Lady Foot Locker in 1995. I've managed several different stores in Central Jersey and PA over the years, racking up a Rookie Manager of the Year award and two Manager of the Year awards. I am currently trying to get a job in Foot Locker's corporate office in NYC.
