Debra's Story
Life
Wow! How life has changed since I wrote the paragraphs below. Son grown up and out of college. Daughter grown up and in college. 11 years cancer free. Life is good. Life is "Blessed". Retired and loving it....traveling with husband and traveling with wonderful friends. Keeps life interesting. Lost my brother Dan to cancer last year as some of you may know, will be a year next month, (Aug. 2014). Miss him a lot. Living a "Blessed' Life and thankful every day!
I am now into 5 years of very good health. I only have to go once a year for my checkups. I also decided to do reconstruction and will complete it by the end of September, 2008. My son is a senior this year, wow I remember when and my daughter is in the 8th grade. Next year, high school. My husband and I are both retired and enjoy time with each other even more. I am blessed! As I said before and probably won't stop, ladies, remember to follow up and have your yearly check ups. That is what saved me! I had no symptons of any kind!! Men, stand by your ladies! It makes all the difference in the world on the outcome of their survival!! Be there for your friends too! It can also affect the outcome of their survival!! We still travel as...Expand for more
much as we can when the kids are out of school. My kids have been able to travel like I did in the 70's and 80's. Michael went to Australia in 2005 as a Student Ambassador of the United States with a group called People 2 People that was started by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956 and is now being run by his granddaughter. What an experience! Check it out sometime on the internet under People to People Student Ambassador.org. My daughter had a wonderful opportunity to go to the Philippines with a friend and her family in September 2006. While she was there, Typhoon Milyeno went through but fortunately she was safe in one of the big malls in Manila. They build them underground so she didn't even know how bad it was until they left the mall. Believe me, this was a "big" one too! A quick phone call to the Philippines assured us she was safe. Life is a treasure...Enjoy it!!
Workplace
Had many jobs when I got out of high school. Always worked in an area where I was helping people. Went from sales to marketing, then in the medical field. Now a Licensed Day Care Provider (10 years now) and maybe retirement in the near furture.
Due to health reasons in 2003-2004, I am now officially retired.
