Debra's Story

I finally received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tulane University. It took much longer than expected, but I didn't give up. It was a long hard struggle with many obstacles along the way, but in the end I was rewarded and was able to pat myself on the back. I always wanted to be a attorney when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right, but not for me.. My favorite way of relaxing is finding me a Macy's and using the plastic. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Milton P., because I didn't know I had a good thing until I lost it. I love several relality shows such as "Keeping up with the Kardashians, RJ and Brandy a Family Business, The Real Housewives and Too Fat for 15". My biggest surprise has been to find out so many classmates and people I have known along the way have passed on to another life.. It makes me realize life is too short to keep putting off that important phone call. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my garage and add on a patio. My dream home would be two stories. When I went to my 30th year class reunion, I didn't remember a lot of classmates, but I remembered Mr. Wilson who always had a pleasant smile. To be truly happy, I would have married the person I loved instead of being afraid of being hurt. My current age is 49 years and 355 days. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be more happier with their accomplishments. I was so completely wrong because of the world and the challenges we are currently facing. I don't know what happened to my first crush, but if any of you see him - let him know I am available. My best friend would tell you I'm down to earth, but peop...Expand for more
le who don't know me very well would probably describe me as stuck up. My style is conservative which include business casual. 20 years ago I was able to let something hang out, but now it's FULLY covered. lol The weirdest job I ever had consisted of me collecting the census. I never thought I would be working outdoors, but the experience was exciting because I got to interact with some nice people. If I had one thing to do over, I would have married the man I loved. As I got older and met Hurricane Katrina, I learned starting over is not easy and it cannot happen overnight. In 10 years, I hope to be playing bingo everyday. I'm going to get there by using my resources wisely. My oldest friend is named Phillip. We met over 25 years ago and we are still friends today. A lot of people say you cannot be friends with the opposite sex without having a relationship, but his friendship is genuine and I would not trade it for anything. He tutored me in math when I was attending Delgado and when I wanted to give up on myself he gave me that extra push and said, "you'll get it next time - if you don't get it this time". Those words stuck with me when I took my exam and I passed it on the first try. I surprised a few people at my class reunion when I informed them that I was not married and didn't have any children. My first job was at the US Census Bureau, where I got paid every two weeks to type the census reports. What I remember most about it is how I tried to make the money stretch until the next payday and buy the fancy clothes and shoes I liked. Growing up around family and friends who cared about your welfare. As I look at society now, its hard to find love, friends or people you can "TRUST".
