Debbie's Story
Life
In 1973, I married Steve Pellegrini and have been living in Nevada (Yerington) ever since. We bought 10 acres about 6 miles south of town and proceeded to raise alfalfa and kept our horses there. Yerington is a far cry from LB and I think that's one of many reasons I love it so much. The land is big here--mountains surround our valley and I think you could almost reach out and touch them. In 1979 we moved into the house we built. We have three sons, Aaron 24--who is a gifted composer and musician, Evan 20--who is crazy about history, is a multi-talented artist and is a licensed falconer, and Julien 18--who is a gifted raptor artist and also a licensed falconer. Both boys share the distinction of being the youngest licensed falconers in our state. Yes, I'm proud of my sons! Steve teaches biology at the high school...Expand for more
and is just starting his 27th year as a teacher. He received the first Presidential Award given in Nevada for Science teaching and we went to the White House to receive it. That was one of the best moments in my life. I'm in my seventh, almost eighth, year working at the intermediate school as a special education-severe emotionally handicapped aide and love it. On the sidelines, I work as an artist and have had two one-woman shows at our local museum. I have been kept bust lately painting murals for some of the schools in the area, but my first love is doing portraits. I keep busy with my family, job, art, sewing and writing. I hope to publish one of the books I've written someday(I've written 2 so far and am working on the 3rd).I am now going back to school and hope to someday earn my teaching credential to teach art.
