Debbie's Story

I married my husband in 1993 and moved to San Diego, CA. He was in the Navy and we were able to move around a bit. We lived in Jacksonville, FL for a time and Guam for a bit. San Diego called us back. We lived a block from the beach until he retired last year. We are now living in Tulsa, OK. It has been a huge change for us and not always easy. It is getting better. The girls love the little bits of snow we get and I definitely enjoy things being less expensive than San Diego. I work with families that have children with special needs that need help with the schools. My passion is ADHD an...Expand for more
d dyslexia. By next year I will be certified to test for and diagnose dyslexia. Hopefully by then the state of OK will acknowledge it as a learning disorder and kids that really need the help will be able to get it and create a better life for themselves. For now, I will continue to fight to help kids get the services they need in school. I am waiting until the kids get a little older before going back to school for my masters in psychology. I can't justify the expense of a graduate degree if I am not ready to work full time. My kids will only be little once and I cherish every moment with them.
