Debra's Story
Life
We had been living in sunny Florida for the past 19 years but just sold our house and we are now living in Nascar country, Mooresville, North Carolina. Phil has transferred to Charlotte with his company (Phil Kirk OHS 1974) we didn't want to live right in Charlotte about 30 miles north. We will be celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary in Feb 2009. We have three kids or should I say adults (Cory-31) (Carrie-26) (Cascie-18), our oldest daughter is married to (William) and blessed us with our first grandchild the love of lives (Skyler Grace), they have also moved with us to North Carolina. Cascie is looking forward to attending UNC. We'll miss the sunshine and mickey mouse but look forward to the change in seasons again and to not have to turn the air conditioner down on Christmas Day, maybe we'll get lucky and even see snow our first Christmas in North Carolina. t again! Although it was not near as bad as the destruction we saw in Louisiana last year from Katrina. Phil and I were blessed to be able to go and volunteer in a local shelter there for a week. It changed our lives forever! The pictures on television are nothing compared to actually standing there and seeing it for yourself. Look forward to the reunion in 2009/2010 since we missed our last ones. Would love to hear from old friends from the class of 74/75. We are also closer to my sister and brother in law (Charlotte Kirk Horn & Dan Horn - OHS 75) and have gotten to see one another alot now. They live just over the line in Virginia. For those of you who remember Phil being in a bad motorcycle accident while practicing for a motorcross race, after 34 years has finally found a doctor who was able to fix his leg again and put in an artifical knee joint so that it's back to normal, able to bend and it looks great!
