Debra's Story
I moved to Kansas City, Missouri in January of 1969 and have been here ever since. I found a wonderful person and married in 1969, and we had 4 children. I started attending classes at a community college in 1978 when our youngest child was 2, and eventually graduated from UMKC with a degree in History in 1992, and then graduated from UMKC School of Law in 1994. I practiced law in Butler (where we have lived since 1974) and am now the Associate Circuit Judge for the 27th Circuit, sitting in Bates County. We have a large family including 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grand children with another on the way. My husband is retired, and just waiting for me to retire. ida (soon to be Arizona I believe). They give us lots of great travel destinations, and that is what we want to do when I retire.
Chapter 2
In November of 2018 I retired from the bench. The day after the obligatory retirement party we moved to Winter Haven, Florida in an over 55 gated community. We both love it here and our family, who are scattered from Mariland to Seattle to Arizona to Missouri can come see us instead of us traveling all over, and they will have lots to do here! One child and her family has already followed us here, and settled in Clearwater, near Tampa, which is about 1 1/2 hour’s away! If any classmates have relocated to this area, please let me know.
