Debra's Story
Well I didn't actually graduate in 1972. I was supposed to, but I got pregnant and back then you couldn't go to school while pregnant, so I had to quit. I was devastated by that. I wanted to graduate so bad. My beautiful son was born in December 1971 and brought a new joy into my life. I had a good friend who also had to quit due to pregnancy and her and I plus another friend who was a senior sat together at the then Nancarrows pharmacy on Dudley Ave. and watched the color day parade together. I did get my GED and went on to PCC and recieved my certificate in secretarial science and my Associates in Social Services. I have lived in Parkersburg all my life and have had several jobs in the social service field. But my most prized accomplishment is the raising of my wonderful children and now the ultimate joy of grandmother. Life has not always been easy but I wouldn't change a thing. With challanges come growth and without that you're just stagnant.
