Debra's Story
Life
I have 7 wonderful children, 14 grandsons, 7 granddaughters, and 2 great grandchildren. I have been married 43 years (to the same guy) and lived in Alaska. Other places we have lived are Montana, New York, Delaware, Washington, Idaho, California and North Dakota. I had been working at Kmart since my husband got out of the Air Force in 1993. Now that Kmart in Fairbanks has closed, I was a cashier at the mini mart on Eielson Air Force base. My kids had kept me busy and I would not have wished for anything nicer. I have been truly blessed! I enjoyed going to the reunion in Montana in 2002 and seeing that I am not the only one that doesn't remember much about school. My daughter Angela is 26 and graduated with a BA in Science. On October 2, 2010, my husband and I left in our RV to tour US and visit kids. We travelled from sea to shining sea, saw all 7 kids and 18 grandkids and such beautiful country. We had holidays with sons in AZ and KY, put over 18,000 miles on th 1991 RV and had a wonderful time. We are back in AK trying to sell the house so we can settle in the Lower 48 and be closer to the kids (as the 3 left here in AK are looking to leave the frozen north too). We flew back to AK because of the winter weather in January in Canada so we look forward to getting into our new life once again in KY and see where things go from there. I got to realizing just how important family is in my life. Just don't take life for granted.
