Dee Dee's Story

Dee Dee Blassingame Mills I married in 1976, had two kids...divorced and remarried in 1979. There was a small 5 yr Class Reunion in Dallas. I took my current boyfriend at that time, maybe those of you that where there will remember him? His name was Gaylon. I call him my Husband now! We will be married 29 yrs Nov 17th this year! I raised his two kids and my two kids. You can see pics of them in my family album. What you wont see many pics of is of MY son, Jason Scott. He shot himself Dec 10, 1994. Life is very hard sometime. Dealing with his death has been the hardest thing Ive ever done. Then after that would be dealing with raising the other three, especially after he died. I left Medina Home right before graduation in Jan 1974. (thanks to Richard Estes! If anyone wants to know THAT story, let me know!) I was 19 when I left. All adults at MCH made us think that 18 was not a magic age and we couldnt just get up and leave, but that was a LIE. So I stayed until I couldnt stand it with the Superintendent of MCH telling me that if I moved into town with one of my classmates families (so I could graduate), he would use ALL HIS POWER and cause trouble for them and maybe cause them to lose their jobs, etc. Like the naive kid I was, I believed him and told him I would have to LEAVE and go to some of my family. He put me on a bus with $15.00 and off I went. The first thing I did was go straight to buy a pack of cigarettes! My way of defying them a last time! Wish I hadnt tho, still smoking and have health issues because of it. Simpson told me I was a bad influence on ALL my classmates. I would like to know if maybe I WAS. Are there ANY here that remember me doing or saying anything that would cause YOU to do wrong? Id really like to know what it was that was wrong in the first place. Not that I was perfect, but was treated like dirt by the admins, house parents, etc. Mrs. Offe (whatever her name was) once slapped me in the face with a piece of paper...for NOT getting up and out of HER way fast enough. (we were getting off the bus) I guess I have lots of resentment towards MCH in many ways. But I do have tons of good memories with lots of my friends/classmates/roommates, etc!! Using the STORY WIZARD, I thought Id answer, or tell a little more about myself. Whats the wildest thing I ever did in MCH? Let Larry Y in the bathroom window in the middle of the night...(Im goin' to hell!) 2nd would have to be sneaking up the mountain behind my cottage to have a little bitty smoke with someones daughter (I never told on HER) Where have I lived and why did I move: From Medina, the bus took me to my Aunts in Van Alstyne, Tx. Lived with Mother in Sherman, but she couldnt support me. I moved to Abilene and MCH agreed to help pay for my education. I was stupid and naive, and when two of my professors singled me out and told me how stupid my paper was, I quit and never went back. I didnt know the diff between a book report and a thesis! Thats one of my greatest regrets, not fighting thru Abilene CHRISTIAN College regardless of their professors arrogance, and finishing with a degree!! I stayed in Abilene and did the little party, party all the time for a while. Met first husband, Scott Wagner who turned out to be completely nuts and very violent. After the last beating, I finally got OUT, went to work for Moore Bros Co, (anyone remember the Gibson Stores?) met my current husband in April of 1979 there!. We married and lived in Abilene for another 4 years before moving to Sweetwater, back to Abilene, on to San Angelo then 4 years in Big Spring, Tx. And finally, thankfully, moved to Waco in 1993 and we have been here since. He was/is a Goodyear Store Manager. The STORY WIZARD says the ONE person Id like to see again is........ Well, I cant answer that question exactly like that! There are too many Id like to see and spend time REALLY talking! Making a change here because I have talked to Liz Jensen and all the memories of she and I just flooded back. She was so serious but so funny too. She thought I was smart and kind. She was my real friend out of all the others, I suppose. Look her up on here cuz shes written some of her life story and you that knew her will be surprised and proud of what shes done! She is still the same sweet and caring person she was 37 yrs ago! Lisa Swoffard, my memories of her are just pure FUN! I just loved her! Wish I could find her, but havent looked for her in a long time. Lucy Yarborough, she was one person that influenced me and I loved her. Mrs Brubaker, why did she HATE me? Spitting on me was one thing she did that was just too horrible to do to a 15 yr old. Wanna know why she spit on me? You'll have to ask. Oh gosh, thats turning into not so fun memories. There are many others I would love to see and just catch up with! I cant even name them all! Starr Kelton, she was one of the ONLY MCH kids that totally accepted me (or at least I thought she did!) and for that I loved her. I HAVE gotten in touch with her recently and we will be catching up a whole lot! Lets see, next on the Story Wizard is Share your Obessions. Hmmm, can I do that here? LOL Just kidding! My first obsession has to be my husband Gaylon. And of course my family. BUT, I LOVE ELVIS! Yep, it HAS to be called an obsession! Ive only been a big fan since 1987 after hed been gone for 10 yrs, but Ive made up ...Expand for more
for it! Ive been to Graceland 15 times and will continue to go when I can. Guess you can tell how I feel about him by looking at my photo albums! Which teacher would I like to see? Coach Whatley. HE gave me hope that I COULD do something. Xmas was great! 2008 was a hard year and Im hoping 09 will bring some better health for me and my husband. I now have a condition called Foot Drop! WTF??? Nerve damage they say.... I also have something called Gastroparesis. Food takes way too long to digest. For several months I just couldnt stand to eat. Things are good tho, Im learning to eat better and have finaly stopped losing weight. At 129 and 54 yrs, Im lookin' kinda drawn! Ready to get on with Physical Therapy and then to use the FREE gym and workout 3 times a week at work! Muscle tone will hopefully help me feel and look better. UPDATE: My appetite came back. :( Still have some probs with digestion. ALSO...I never did make it to work out! LOL And since July 2009 have not worked at Providence Hospital cuz I got fired....... Ok, Ive updated!! WHERES MY MONEY? I just KNOW I won! LOL June 27th 2010 Thought while I am here I would update my story. Gaylon is the most amazing man. He loves me and it is so apparent. He will be 60 in Dec. Towards the end of last year we learned he has Chronic Kidney Disease. His kidneys are only runing on 33%. We are both diabetic and he has high blood pressure, which he really didnt take care of for years. He is a Store Manager and is extremely responsible, never wanting to take off work to see the dr every three months. So every health issue was not taken seriously. Besides, I cant stand his dr. Never thought he paid attention to Gaylon as he should. Like the Kidney Disease. It was only a few months before his diagnosis that that dr had him on large doses of Potassium! Very bad for the Kidneys. Same for phospherous, milk, cheese, nuts, beans, corn, wheat..... Ok, so Im a baaaad cook and I have a horrible time cooking for him. Anyway, his Nephrologist says he will probably be on dialysis within 2-3 years and possibly dead within 5. Great, huh? My soulmate just may leave me within the next few years! I am so broken hearted, but try to not show him that. From me he gets lots of smiles and laughter, probably way too much affection (I am the smothering type :) ) lots of reasurances and more than enough encouragement! Hes not talked about it very much, except to say he is a little scared. But, on a good note, he has been in much pain for many years with his knees. I watched him going from walking normally to this side to side gait. Kept telling him to get serious with his dr but (and I usually go with him to his appts) dr always said... you're getting older, you're overweight...arthritis blah, blah, blah. Finally I SPOKE up and told the so called dr, HE IS HURTING and its much more than he is letting on!! Finally he said he would do an Xray. ONE Xray. Which showed bone on bone in left knee. That ole dr just ho hummed around about it was worse than he thought. But did, after ME asking... referred Gaylon to a Orthopedic Specialist. Both knees were bone on bone and he was even bow-legged from favoring one side or the other to help ease his pain. Gaylon never said too much, but a wife of this long, knows her sweetie, and I KNEW he was in more pain than he was letting on. So, finally on April 21st this year Gaylon had Double Knee Replacements and is completely pain free now! Except for some muscle pain, but walking doesnt hurt at all. He only stayed in Rehab for 1/3 of the time most people do after that type of surgery! He is back to riding the Harley, too. As soon as he has completely healed, which should be within the next 4-6 months... we are going DANCING! We used to love to dance and went almost every weekend, Fri and Sat nites! Country & Western dancing. Woooo Hoooo, I am so excited! Bowling for him, would probably be fine, but my knees hurt if I stoop or squat, so no more bowling for me anyway. We used to League bowl for years, but that was a long time ago. My daughter, Stacy is 32 now. Thats hard to believe! She has three kiddos now. Dont remember if I posted any pics of the baby yet. Will have to check and make sure and do that! Two girls, pics are in my album and now a 9 month old boy! Bransyn Nathaneal Cash Murphy. Nathaneal, she wanted the Biblical spelling. Her husband the one that wanted to be independantly wealthy by the time he was 30, put in the Cash name. Funny tho... I like it! I would call him Cash! Stacy is so sweet. Because my real name is DeLoys, she wanted to put a Y in each of her kids name! So, its Brooklyn, Brynlie and Bransyn. They are so sweet and loving. (the only person that calls me DeLoys is my step mother and I like that! My Mother, who is in a nursing home... a great nursing home, has dementia and has difficulty talking, ect, she has called me Dee Dee for years. On a very personal note....I have a problem with loud noise and chaos and just cant keep them very often. But you know what? After raising 4 kids very close in age for 18 years and suffering through it since my nerves were and still are, shot.....its a time in my life where I dont put myself in a position that causes great anxiety. So there. Nothing about my life is quite normal, or it seems to me.....altho my therapist says its not so. I dont believe him.
