Deena's Story
I live in Eastpointe, Michigan now. I am married. We have 4 kids. I have 3 step kids that I love and adore. I have raised them as my own from very young. My husband and I also had a son of our own. Gina is 21, Tom is 18, Doug is 17, and Tony is 9. We are one big happy family.
We decided to move to Eastpointe to be closer to the kids that we ministered to. I don't like this city all that well, but help for the troubled teens in this area is so needed.
My husband and I own and run a non-profit organization called the Eastside Teen Outreach. We minister to over 150 at-risk teens. We meet every week to feed them as well as teach them about God and making good choices for their life. We take them on field trips and to concerts and such. e them opportunities to connect together in a positive environment. It is a very busy and stressful but very rewarding. We love what we do. I have such a heart for broken, hurting kids. If I can help one kid know that God loves them and that they are a special and teach them to live their live to the fullest potential, then it is all worth it.
I also homeschool my own kids and teach the high school kids at our homeschool group. Our oldest son, Tommy just shipped out to the Navy to be a Chaplain's assistant. We are very proud of him. It's going to be different without him around. He is a very big part of our ministry.
My life is very different than what I ever thought it would be but I love every minute of it with all the stress and craziness. I wouldn't want it any other way. :o)
