Deena's Story
Well, my life has been just that-life!!! I ran away from home on my graduation night. Actually, that wasn't a very good step because I told my parents Gary Ray and I were married.
They bought us groceries and a couple months rent at the old Fleetwood Apts. in MWC for a wedding gift. Ouch!! Well, I got pregnant with our first child. My dad got us a home on Engle Rd that was a fire burnout and remodeled it. Gary helped. Was a nice starter home and had a great nursery. We also managed to really become married by a judge since I was pregnant but my dad saw the marriage license in ppr. He and my mom weren't very pleased. Anyway, Gary wasn't a very good provider at that time since he dropped out. He got in some trouble with his older brother and friends. He had a chance to go to military in the marines instead of trouble at that tme. That was the best part of our lives together. Ana and had 2 more children. It was beautiful there in the 70's. The beaches, orange groves, Disneyland!!All awesome scenery and beauty I didn't expect but it wasn't home. He was the nonconformist type but served his term and we came back to Okla. He never supported me again or the children when we retrnd, therefore, we divorced in 1979. I struggled many years making ends meet since he never paid child support and ended up having trouble of his own. I made mistakes and made some good decisions too. Anyway, the Tinker Daycare sits where my home used to and where I raised my children for 13 years. Live in Del City now and am going to Rose State for an Assoc. Degree. It's a little late in life for me but at least this is better than never. Knowledge is an important part of success and learning that I can really use!! I haven't been the brightest person at times but I have been blessed in life and feel that there has never been a dull moment...
