Delia's Story
I met Ed in June of 1967. He was in the Air Force stationed in MA.
After I graduated in 1968, I went to a business school in Portland and graduated in 1970. I started working in Portland at an Insurance company after graduation, but in July 1971 I moved to Bangor as Ed was going to the University of Maine for Engineering. While in Bangor, I worked at an Insurance agency. We were married in 1973.
In 1974 when Ed graduated, we moved to Portland for a year and bought our first house in Windham in 1976. Jessica was born in 1978 and in 1982 we moved to New York when Ed was transferred.
We transferred again in 1986 to Chesapeake, VA, where we are still today.
I went back to college for computers in 1991 and again in 1999 for Microsoft Certifications. I have worked as a computer tech, as a teacher in a tech school, and when I retired, I was a Human Resource Officer for a Benefits Administration Company.
My grandson was born in 1999 and Ed and I are presently back raising a 10 year old wild boy and enjoying every minute of it.
I am now retired as of December 2007 to raise my grandson.
I have no desire to see other countries, but I would sure like to see more of this one before I am too old to appreciate it. I would like to see more of the midwest and south. We still usually vacation in or close to Maine as our moms...Expand for more
are still there.
Hope to see everyone at the next reunion, as I have not missed one yet.
When I am upset, the first thing I do is scream, then I play with my german shepherd, go for a walk, or listen to my MP3. I love music.
Kids grow up to be nothing like their parents. I look at my daughter and ask myself "where did she come from?"
My first job was at Cole Farms, where I got paid 1.00 to 1.50. What I remember most about it is flirting with the truck drivers when I worked night shift on weekends.
Mid fifties there was a forest fire in Poland. It burned some of my family's land and threatened our farm. I remember mom on top of the barn with a hose wetting it down.
I think the wildest thing I did while actually in school was have a hair pulling fight with Karen W. Murphy had to break it up. I think the craziest thing I did during my HS years was drag racing on Rt 302 after leaving Mortons with a case of beer under my convertible top. Probably the stupidist thing I have ever done was go to Woodstock 96 with a broken foot and three 16 year olds.
I bought a new Camaro in June 2009, took it on vacation, where it got a door dent on it. After I had that fixed, I bought a cover for it and it is hibernating in my driveway. I love it but afraid that it will get damaged. I drive my 99 camaro and my 85 is listed as an antique.
