Della's Story
Life
After graduating from Shelton High School, I earned a bachelor's degree in journalism at the University of Missouri, Columbia. I was married my senior year in college and we moved to Houston after graduation in 1980, where we lived for 13 years. Worked as a newspaper reporter for several years, then moved into PR work. In Bakersfield, CA since 1993. I discovered volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity about 15 years ago and have helped build over 30 houses. oly. I've been single again for about 5 years. Bought a condo in late 2005 and have been working to drag it out of the 70's ever since. I had my own PR business for a while before going to work for United Way here in Bakersfield in 2005. In July 2008, I became president of United Way. I get back to Connecticut about once a year to visit family, who are all still there. Haven't really kept in touch with many folks from high school or college, but would be happy to hear from folks.
