Demetrius's Story

Life Graduating from East Central high school, was the first step in the right direction. After, graduation I attended NEO A&M for 1 year and then went to Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. I graduated with my degree in the field of Broadcast Journalism, and a minor in business. I was a vital part of the track and field distance programs, becoming captain of the cross country team and competing in national competition. Discovering myself as a person was really an adventure during those years. I enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for my entire enlistment. I was married for a brief time while, serving my country unfortunately, it did not work out. I did run the Army 10 miler in Washington, D.C for two consecutive seasons representing my unit. The military was a great experience traveling all over Europe and learning so much about other parts of the world. After completing my tour in Europe I chose to leave the military and returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma for a short while. I secured a position with a local recruiting company and stayed in Tulsa for the next 18 months. During this time, I met a wonderful woman, fell in love and we did get married on April 06, 2002. Today, we have been married for 7 years and we now live in Fort Worth, Texas. My life has been changed many times over, meaning that I have been received as an Associate minister at Charity Church in Fort Worth. Our current membership is over 1900 members. that is paid in full, and we have paid for over half the 6.8 million dollar facility to have over 4000 seat capacity. The Charity Church ministry is a young ministry with young people attending and presenting Chrisitian ideas without religious conotations, but rather relationship principles. I have completed my Masters of Business Administration. I would have never guessed that I would attend school again, but wanting more for others around you reminds me that education is the key. I would like to recognize my former High School coach at East Central High School JoAnn Reinolds. She told me "Demetrius you can do anything you desire to do just keep going after your goals and you will succeed". This quote has always been with me and encouraged me, for those of you reading this remember we have the same obligation to those we have influence on within corporate environments, teaching capacities, ministry opportunities, and especially within our families. I would like to encourage everyone reading this story to know that the Bible says "God can do exceedingly, and abundantly above all you can ask or even think". If, you have taken the time to read my profile today encourage someone today by giving them a hug, spending quality time with a grandparent, that is still alive, quality time with your children, or your spouse. Make time for others, and give God the glory. May you and your family be blessed always. God Bless, Associate Minister Charity Church Ministries, Fort Worth, Texas Demetrius & Jennifer Thompson
