Dena's Story

Life Years ago, I wanted to do something adventurous and daring, how does para-sailing and playing with tigers sound? Before I tell you about that, I'm divorced with 1 daughter, she is now 34. After high school I attended M.C. received my A.A. in Advertising Art, attended U.M., then went to work for the Federal Gov't. Been with them over 39 years. Within those 39 years plus, worked different part-time jobs, worked as a portrait model, employed at a mansion as a hostess and worked at a radio station as a promotional assistant, that was fun, worked at concerts, met band members(i.e, Paul Revere and the Raiders)played with a baby tiger. Currently, I work as a Program Analyst/Grants Management Specialist but I'm also an EEO Counselor. I helped organize the Holocaust Days of Rememberance at work as well at the Combined Federal Campaign as a manager, been doing that for several years now. I was living in Germantown, MD for years but I'm now living in Gaithersburg, bought a townhouse. On the 4th of July enjoyed a cookout with my boyfriend, (who is now my husband) and family and watched the fireworks from my deck. Enjoy traveling as much as I can. Have a wonderful daughter who I couldn't be more proud of. She just graduated from MC with honors and is also working full time. Not to mention, My granddaughter Aliyah Sadie was born on 10/20/10, she is beautiful, has dark blond hair and blue eyes and has won my heart. She just turned 8. I get the sweetest kisses from her. I am now the proud grandma of a grandson Abram, he is going on 3 months. He was named after my dad. Also, I have a step granddaughter who will be 12 next month. She is no longer a step, she's my granddaughter. Love her so much. As for me right now, been in a relationship for over over 10 years. After being in a relationship he finally decided to propose on May 22. We've been married for 2 y...Expand for more
ears now. I would love to hear from my old friends from Peary. On 6/18/09, I was recently diagnosed with Shaumbergs disease, its rare, no cure, but treatable. So if there are any doctors out there who know about this, please contact me. The good news is, its not fatal. Right now I'm going through a trial-by-error to see what is causing this. I'm not a vain person but this time I am, its on my legs so feel strange wearing skirts and a bathing suit. My family and boyfriend are very supportive of me on this. It sucks getting old, I was just in the hospital struggling with migraines. It will get better in time if I can avoid the stress, oh well on that. So far, I'm migraine free, I think it was the stress of buying my house, going to settlement and fixing it up. Now here it is 2014 and I was recently diagnosed with Sarcoidosis, it's not cancer but has 4 stages, they caught mine in the very stage. The doctors don't think I will need any treatments. Within the last few months, we discovered that my mom has gall bladder cancer, she is under going chemo, she has her good days and bad. She goes every week either being in chemo or having the pouch removed, then back the following week, thankfully my boyfriend and my daughter have pitched in to help, otherwise I'd be worn out. I've only got one mom and I'd do anything fo her. She's been there for me and I'm there for her, had to be since my dad passed 15 years ago. On May 29, 2012, our mom lost her battle from having gall bladder cancer. Not a day goes by that I don't miss her, wishing she was here. So if your parents are still with you, spend as much time with them as you possibly can, don't let a day go by without telling them how much you love them. Does't matter what your relationship is with them, they are your parents. Love them, cherish them. Well that's my story for now Peace, Love and Rock and Roll Dena
