Denice's Story

(FIND ME ON FB FOR FREE!!!!) Most of you probably don't remember me. I was quiet, I missed school a lot for surgery. Well, here's ME in a nutshell today: I married my TRUE love in 1981. We're STILL together and SO in love! He's this big biker guy, with tats and all. so he LOOKS mean, which has been helpful over the years since we had 3 gorgeous daughters..and the BOYS were always comin 'round!. But in reality he is my BIG teddy bear. He's a certified Harley Davidson Technician. Back to our 3 girls: April is 26 and a Veterinarian nurse, Erin is 23, she's a PEOPLE nurse and gave us the 1rst BOY in the family; our grandson Aidan. Then our "baby" Emma is 22, she gave us our 1rst grandchild- Breanna (a.k.a.=Bre') Emma is in the Army National Guard. As for ME: I spent 12yrs. HOMESCHOOLING the girls and trying to be Super Mom/Wife/Homemaker. And I LOVED each moment of those years. BUT, when the girls all moved out to do their own things (married, school, etc.) I was a mess! We were living in Phoenix at the time and our family became scattered; April was in Vegas, Erin was in another area of AZ., and Emma ran off at 17 to marry her "true love" in San Bernadino. (Like mother, like child) In 2006 we ALL somehow ended up back in The general Fairfield/Hamilton/Middletown areas. ME, now: you may or may not remember I used to have trouble with walking "right"back in school. Broke my ankle a lot. I've been diagnosed with a chronic, incurrable spinal cord disease that's name is a mile long, so mnost folks call it S.M. (no i don't mean M.S. although they have similiar symptoms) I had a surgery last Sept. '08 that MAY have slowed down progression. But instead it sped things up. I'm waiting on a new power chair cause I can no longer walk. Doc's explain the disease is unpredictable concerning how fast it progresses. But gradually this disea...Expand for more
se will climb up my spinal cord, killing nerves as it gets higher. My arms/hands are starting to quit on me, my bodily functions require help exiting my body. Some day I may wake up and be unable to move..or swallow..or speak.... I'm NOT sharing all this for pity. HATE THAT STUFF!! But I want to share that Life is not about the destination...it's about the journey. Tell your significant other that you love them everyday... kiss your kids and tell them too!! Nobody remembers us for our bank accounts, the cars/homes we own. But you WILL be remembered for the kind words to a stranger, for what a good parent you were, for how much you loved your spouse. Those of you whom I went to school with, who I shared a classroom with for 6-7 hrs. a day...I'm ashamed to say I don't remember you all. Those who I remember most are those of you who always took the time to make me feel "normal" even though I walked different or was sometimes in a wheelchair or on crutches. Sometimes I look back and remember a time I said cruel words to another kid, knowing then how much it hurt and how mean I was. I hope those folks have forgiven me. I just decided to finally sign up in this website to hopefully once again cross paths with some of you. Don't wanna end on a down note: as far as my career path... I worked for several years as an accounts specialist for Avon in Springdale. But what I've done most of my adult life (and as a kid too) is SING. I am a solo artist and I go to church's or women's groups, etc. and I speak about my experiences over the years (had my left leg amputated in '93) and I intersperse that with songs that fit in that spot. I also sing at weddings, but mostly just for family and friends. I really want to hear from some of you fellow INDIANS of '83. You can also look me up on FACEBOOK and MySPACE. tHANKS FOR "lISTENING"
