Denice's Story
Well, this may or may not take long. Right after high school, I worked at Beechnut-Lifesavers in Holland, Mich. I finished up my candy career by living in my Cobra Mustang for six months (I think my dad prophesied that over me by calling me "Goofy-bum" for most of my life), then went to live with the wonderful Rayburn family, and then joined the Army because I'd never been in the Army before :-). I served three years and then took a "European-out" which means I stayed in Germany after I was discharged in May 1983. I worked at the German based Stars and Stripes newspaper until March 1984 and then traveled to Sri-Lanka and India which was a once in a life time experience. er 1984. I married Joe Rankin in 1987. We are still married and we had two children, Joel Adam, who passed away Oct. 8, 2006, and Raymand Paul, age 21. I work for the Michigan National Guard as a public affairs specialist. I'm really a village-people kind of person now and am a member of a truely great church. We've lived in the same house for 20 years.
I know I'm blessed to have a Father in heaven who has a plan for my life, a husband who loves me, to have my health, to have a son at home who makes me realize the uniqueness of parenting an adult, and many many more blessings.
And now here we are, most of us with more years behind then lie ahead. It's time to make them count. There is a plan for all of us. It's on us to ask God for direction though.
I'm beginning (again) to take college courses to pursue a counseling degree. Life has taught me a few things, but there is still so much to learn!
May the one true God bless all who read this. Love and Peace in Christ ><> Denice
