Denise's Story
Life
Recently returned from Texas back to New Mexico! I am the Director of Elementary Personnel for the Rio Rancho Public Schools. My husband is the head football coach for a new high school in RR opening up in 2009 (Cleveland HS). We did retire from New Mexico in 2005 where I was an Elementary Principal, State President of the New Mexico Association of Elementary School Principals, State Board President of the New Mexico Coalition of School Administrations, National Distinguished Principal for the NAESP, State Board of Directors for Character Counts!, and active in many other local/state organizations. I was the Coordinator of Student Teachers for the College of Education at Texas Tech University. My husband, Kirk, was retired as well from NM and was a coach at Lubbock HS. He coached football and was the head wrestling coach. He was an instructor for the student teacher capstone class at Texas Tech. We are both active in our church.
Our daughter, Kristen, graduated from TTU with dual degrees in ...Expand for more
Public Relations and English in December 2006. She got married in Aug. 2007 to Jacob Roberts of Clovis, NM (an all state football player). She is a teacher at the Texas Tech Early Childhood Headstart Center. They recently had a boy--Casen Wayne Roberts. We are thrilled to be grandparents (as old as that sounds!)
Our son, Jason, is a Senior at TTU pursuing a degree in Multidisciplinary Science with aspirations of becoming a Chiropractor. He has just been elected President of his fraternity (Delta Tau Delta), and is a student manager of the United Spirit Arena. He is active in intramural sports and all fraternity activities.
We did live in Ransom Canyon--across the street from a lake where I still skied! Now we live on a hill in Rio Rancho looking out over the Rio Grande Valley. We go to sleep with the distant beautiful lights of Albuquerque and the Sandia mountains always in our view. We wake up to hot air balloons each day. We travel as much as we can, attend TTU sporting events, and love NASCAR.
