Denise's Story
Life
Hi everyone! I'm not married ... no children. I finished my BS degree at FAMU in Dec. 1998. I enjoy life in Tallahassee and hope to move back to Tampa one day. I went to our class reunion and had a great time ... I won the prize for registering at the last minute. I almost won the prize for staying in school the longest!
....I wrote the above message in 1997 ... well now it's 2007. Nope, still not married and no children! Not moving back to Tampa as far as I can tell. I'm enjoying life in Tallahassee. I had a great time at our 20th class reunion! It was good to see old friends and familiar faces.
School
Uhh my friends know who I had the biggest crush on in high school. I wouldn't dare put it out there PUBLICLY LOL. Not that he wasn't a great guy but if he read it he might think I was crazy LOL. I don't think he ever knew how big of a crush I had on him. Uhh that was a LONG time ago anyway. IF you ask I'll tell you but I aint volunteering the info. If HE only knew what a crush I had on him LOL
My favorite teach was Mrs. Waters. I had her for Spanish but I also was in Jr. Civitan. During my senior year I was Jr. Civitan president. Yes, as you can imagine I still love to b...Expand for more
e of service to others. It's a passion. Whatever I can do to help someone along the way I pray my living is NOT in vain.
My most embarrassing moment was when I backed into a huge tray of glasses at the Prom. How that happened I don't know. Dancing around and being silly I guess. I'm glad they didn't give me the bill :-)
College
I was in college for 11 years so hmm I could write a lot here haha.
I went to UF in the fall of 1987. Brenda Brinson was one of my room mates! We are still the best of friends today.
While at UF I was a Gator Getter -- the official hostesses for the Florida Gators! Go Team! I was a member of the National Society of Black Engineers and I was an Alpha Sweet (little sister organization to Alpha Phi Alpha).
I had a great time at UF. The engineering program kicked my butt...I tried Computer Engineering and Environmental Engineering. After 8 years, I transferred to FAMU and I earned a BS in Computer Information Systems! While at FAMU, I connected with the NSBE chapter here and I was also involved in ACM and my church collegiate ministry.
Workplace
I work in the IT field. I'm currently employed at the Florida Department of Education as a UNIX systems admin.
