Dennis's Story
In 1967 I went in to the army. Spent about 6 months in Budigan, Germany about 60 miles south of Frankfurt. I was sent to Vietnam when I was 18 in july 68. I was a pfc and I was a combat infantryman in the 4th infantry Division. I was in Bco 2nd platoon 3/8th infantry, Ivy Dragoons [ if you are interested you can go to the ivy dragoons website, I have apicture album in the photos titled 2nd platoon b co.] I turned 19 on november 20th and was given a battlefield comission to sergeant e-5. We were at firebase Vera. in the idrang valley. It got overran twice by the nva. On november 22nd I was hit by incoming artillery. Not serious. ! was awarded the combat infantry badge, purple heart, bronze star, and the air medal for air assaults. I made it thru even at lz brace, and lz penny. and went to college at penn valley. When thru the drug years of the 70's. I worked at the post office about 6 years. I worked with a guy named Terry Waters. We were at a party and I met his wife Karla. I knew her at ruskin high school.
I left the postoffice and was a roofer for 22 years until the veterans addminstration made me retire in 1992. I coached little league baseball for over 12 years.
I'm going to the Ivy Dragoons reunion in Branson mo. at the end of July.
! was married twice, my last one was for 22 years. I collect music, You name it and I probably have it, 50's,60's to now.
